100 PEOPLE: A PORTRAIT OF CO-EXISTENCE weaves together intimate conversations between workers, residents, friends, neighbours, and sometimes strangers, diverse in age, ethnicity, and economic background to present a complicated and connected portrait of residential life.
Set in Shieldfield, a small neighbourhood on the edge of Newcastle upon Tyne’s city centre, 100 People celebrates the resilience and solidarity between ordinary people, often overlooked within mainstream representations, to reveal a collective model of what could be and how we might get there.
When American writer and thinker Rebecca Solnit observes that ‘we are not very good at telling stories about a hundred people doing things,’ this film responds by asking; what if we tried?
Led by artist Andrew Wilson, filmed by Evripidis Karydis, and with an original score from cellist Ceitidh Mac and composer Anna Hughes, 100 People is a poetic, funny and often moving reflection on our industrial past, precarious present, and everyday acts of collective-resistance.
100 People is an arts project developed in partnership with Shieldfield Art Works, Dwellbeing Shieldfield and artist Andrew Wilson.

As well as the film 100 People has produced an exhibition and a community archive collectively owned and managed by the community co-operative Dwellbeing Shieldfield.
All of the raw recorded footage now belongs to the neighbourhood community co-operative Dwellbeing Shieldfield as part of their growing Community Archive.
